Supporting hard of hearing children’s rights to an inclusive education in the regular education system

WHAT: The project supports hard of hearing children’s rights to an inclusive education in the regular education system.

WHY: Due to the lack of knowledge surrounding hearing loss issues in Bolivia, work is done to raise awareness and to create an understanding for hard of hearing people, not only in schools but also with the general public.

HOW: Through visits in schools’, teachers and parents are informed about how to detect hearing loss and the practices and assistance needed in the classroom for an inclusive education. Information campaigns are made to reach out to the public. Workshops are held for parents with hard of hearing children to create a greater understanding for their children’s needs and to create a platform for parents and their hard of hearing children to meet others in the same situation.
