WHAT: The project supports the inclusive development in the schools of Ethiopia. The goal is to get people with visual impairment included in the education system.
WHY: Ethiopia has ratified the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, but the implementing of the legislation is lagging behind. Students with visual imparment are welcomed to many schools but the staff lacks the knowledge about different kinds of teaching methods and the schools can’t afford the assistive devices. Development of the teaching- learning process in inclusive education and adaptation of skills in Braille, orientation and mobility will bring better opportunities for the visually impaired to find a profession and prevent economic and social dependency.
HOW: The project benefits persons with visual impairment who can manage their life better with education and health education.
PARTNER ORGANISATION: The project is implemented by local Help for Persons with Disabilities -organization (HPDO).
