Poverty Reduction Project for the Deaf Population in Tanzania

WHAT: The project supports the vocational training and income generating activities for the deaf population, especially women and youth in seven regions of Tanzania.

WHY: Activities aim to improve the living standards and livelihood which are considerably lower among the deaf population of Tanzania compared to the hearing population.

HOW: Economic and political stability in Tanzania has continued which eases acting in the country. In addition to the vocational training the deaf population receive training in sign language and guidance how to apply micro financing and run a business successfully. The project benefits first and foremost the deaf women and youth in the target region.

PARTNER ORGANISATION: The Project is implemented by Tanzania Association of the Deaf (CHAVITA).
