Ethiopian Deaf Women’s Empowerment and HIV/AIDS Prevention Project

WHAT: The project aims to promote the rights of deaf women in Ethiopian countryside and improve their livelihood. The national association of the Deaf will also be strengthened.

WHY: Deaf women are commonly discriminated even within their families. With own income, the women’s role will improve.

HOW: The project aims to empower the deaf women and increase their knowledge about sexual health through training and peer support. Deaf women are the key beneficiaries of the project, but also deaf men are trained in sexual health and gender issues.

PARTNER ORGANISATION: The project is implemented by Ethiopian National Association of the Deaf, ENAD.
