Until recent years, the international discussion on disability inclusive development has been very modest. The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the rights-based approach to development have, however, brought the rights of persons with disabilities to the attention of many development actors. Inclusion will take time, but the international community is heading in the right direction.
Disability Partnership Finland advocates to keep the rights of persons with disabilities in the minds of Finnish, EU and global decision makers. We work both independently and through national and international networks and consortiums.
Our main advocacy partner at global level is the International Disability and Development Consortium, IDDC. Nationally the main partners in advocacy are Kepa and Kehys.
